Volunteer for DSDN
Role: Board Member
The Board of Directors provides mission-based leadership and strategic guidance to DSDN. Board members serve a two-year term. Board meetings are held bi-monthly and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings. Board meetings are conducted virtually due to our geographic makeup, with the exception of one face-to-face meeting every calendar year.
Responsibilities include:

Being generous experts, willing to advise and ideate based on perspectives, backgrounds, and areas of expertise, willing to “freely help problem solve” using the skills and networks we bring. Serving on committees or task forces and take on special assignments as needed.

Serving as a trusted advisor to DSDN’s Executive Director as they execute DSDN’s strategic plan. Being available for ad hoc discussion on the area(s) of expertise that may help move forward DSDN’s strategic plan.

Playing an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for DSDN to achieve its mission.

Providing connections to DSDN to secure resources we may need – such as skills, materials, services, etc.

Approving DSDN’s annual budget, financial reports, audit reports and material business decisions.

Assisting in identifying and recruiting other Board Members.

Representing DSDN to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization.
Ideal candidates will have the following qualifications:

Extensive professional experience with executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector.

Strong diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals.

Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for DSDN’s mission and vision.

Sufficient time availability for board duties.
