Rock On 3.21™
Honor every step of the Down syndrome journey with DSDN one fun sock at a time!
This World Down Syndrome Day we invite you to stand together with DSDN to honor and acknowledge all of the people with Down syndrome in our communities. We celebrate on and around 3/21 because it represents trisomy 21, which is 3 copies of the 21st chromosome- so March 21 is our day!
Why Socks???
Socks Look Like Chromosomes
When you hold two socks side-by-side, they look like a pair of chromosomes. Down syndrome is caused by an extra copy of the 21st chromosome, so fun socks became a creative, visual way to celebrate that “extra!”
A Fun Way to Start Conversations
Bright, bold, or mismatched socks get attention. When someone asks about your socks, it’s the perfect chance to share facts, celebrate individuals with Down syndrome, and spread awareness.
Socks Are For Everyone
People of all ages and abilities can join in. Kids, adults, schools, workplaces, teams — anyone can participate simply by putting on socks.
A Celebration of Uniqueness
Wearing socks that don’t “match” is a joyful way to highlight that differences are something to celebrate, not hide.
Let DSDN help you advocate and spread awareness in your local classrooms and communities through our Rock On 3.21 sock boxes.
Options available with or without extra swag will ensure you are all set for WDSD 2026!
